We are often asked if our system is DOS or Windows. Actually it is a text based data processing system which runs under Dos or Windows. It is not a word processor or a game, it is a business system that happens to run on personal computers. It works great under LINUX!!
Another question we get all of the time is "Why do we need file sharing and networking?" The answer is simple, you need to be able to ring up sales at the point of sale counter in the proshop, ring up sales at the snack bar counter, post scores at the handicap station, and work on a tournament or receive inventory or write a letter in the back office at the same time. So you can have activity on the same data records from four different stations at the same time. This is no longer difficult or expensive.
However, with the new power of Windows_95 you can also do ok with just a single computer out at the counter and run several jobs at once and listen to a cd besides. All you need is Our Software, a receipt printer and a cash drawer and you are off and running. This is on a computer straight off the shelf from your local discount office supply store!
If you do however have a network with several stations, the only way to keep all of this straight is to have only one set of files with all of the work stations sharing the data. That way when you go into the proshop and buy a sleeve of balls and then have a drink in the snack bar, post your score, and charge all the goods to your account, all of the stations have access to your records and all of the activities appear on one statement. There are similar scenerios for both public, private, and resort courses. Many of our customers have a back office computer and two point of sale computers.
By the way, Windows_95 and Windows 3.11 have built in FREE networking. All you have to do is add network cards or have us do it for you. So don't let anyone sell you an expensive networking program as part of your golf system when good old "MICROSOFT" has done it for you and me for free. And they did a great job I might add! The same is true for LINUX which is a great operating system. IBM has comitted major resourses to LINUX.
This system was designed with the novice computer user in mind. Even though we have many capabilities, our system is very easy to use. You really don't even need to know how to type, you can "hunt and peck" your way through this system very nicely. So please call some of our references and then give us a call.
